In Child Smart Med-Arb, the parents and children begin the process as a Child Smart Mediation. As the mediation progresses and parents begin forming their parenting arrangements, there might be a few points where parents don’t necessarily agree. At that point, the agreed upon matters are reduced to writing and parties sign the Memorandum of Understanding or MOU. The remaining sticking points are then decided by the same person who conducted the mediation, but acting as an Arbitrator and the Arbitrator then issues a written decision. Read more about this process under the full description of Child Smart Med Arb.

In Faith-Based Med-Arb, the parties begin the process as a Faith- Based Mediation. As such, the parties are welcome to bring their Faith Advisor, Pastor, Reverend, Rabi, Priest, to the mediation and have that advisor provide input to both parties as well as to the Mediator. As the parties work toward finding solutions for their issues, there may be a few sticking points where they cannot find resolution. At that point those points would be submitted to the person who has been their Mediator, to make a decision on those points as the Arbiter. However, in keeping with the spirit of a Faith-Based Mediation, the parties’ faith advisor would participate in providing any additional information to the Arbitrator to be considered in reaching a decision over the disputed points.
