Special Masters in Colorado fulfill a role which assists the Court in both Jury and Non Jury cases. Retired Magistrate Judge Evelyn Sullivan has served as a Special Master since her retirement from the bench in 2016. A Special Master's findings are filed with the court, and unless the findings are clearly erroneous, they are accepted by the court. What this means, is the the Special Master has the ability to go to the place where the property is in dispute and then issue findings which will resolve the issues for the Court. This reduces the time the parties need to spend in court while resolving and finalizing the court matter.
